#1-Getting Started with Novus AI

Follow this quick-start guide to connect Novus AI to your Discord server, configure your AI assistant, add your knowledge, and prepare it to support your community.

Getting Started with Novus AI

Welcome to Novus AI! This guide provides an overview of the steps required to connect Novus AI to your Discord server and prepare your AI assistant for your community.

You don't need to configure everything at once. Start with the essential settings, test your assistant, and expand your configuration as your community grows.

Step 1: Sign In with Discord

Novus AI uses Discord authentication to provide access to your account and Discord servers.

Sign in using your Discord account to access the Novus AI dashboard.

Make sure you use a Discord account that has the necessary permissions to manage the server you want to connect.

Step 2: Add Your Discord Server

After signing in, add or select the Discord server where you want to use Novus AI.

You will be redirected to Discord to authorize Novus AI and select the server where the bot should be installed.

Review the requested permissions before completing the authorization.

Step 3: Configure Your Server

Once Novus AI has been added to your Discord server, open the server from your Novus AI dashboard.

Configure the basic settings that determine how Novus AI should operate within that server.

Each connected Discord server has its own configuration, allowing you to customize Novus AI differently for each community.

Step 4: Configure Your AI

Set up the AI configuration that Novus AI will use when responding to your members.

Depending on the available settings, you can configure your AI provider, instructions, response behavior, language preferences, and other AI-related options.

Your AI instructions are important because they help define how your assistant should communicate and behave.

Step 5: Build Your Knowledge Base

Add information that Novus AI should know about your community.

Your Knowledge Base can contain information such as:

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Server information

  • Rules and policies

  • Guides and tutorials

  • Services and features

  • Troubleshooting instructions

  • Community-specific information

Keep your Knowledge Base accurate and up to date so Novus AI can provide more reliable answers.

Step 6: Configure AI Routing

AI Routing allows Novus AI to handle different types of questions using different instructions and relevant information.

For example, you may create separate routes for general questions, technical support, account concerns, purchases, or other topics specific to your community.

Give each route a clear description so Novus AI can determine when it should be used.

Step 7: Configure Discord Channels

Choose where Novus AI should interact with your community.

Make sure the bot has the required Discord permissions in every channel where you expect it to operate.

You can also configure available response settings to control when the AI should respond.

Step 8: Test Your Assistant

Before making Novus AI available to everyone, test it using questions that your members commonly ask.

Check that:

  • The bot responds in the correct channels.

  • Questions are routed correctly.

  • Responses use the appropriate Knowledge Base information.

  • The AI follows your configured instructions.

  • Responses are appropriate for your community.

If a response is incorrect, review the relevant AI instructions, route, and Knowledge Base information before testing again.

You're Ready to Continue

Once your basic setup is working, your Novus AI assistant is ready to begin helping your community.

You can continue improving your assistant by adding more Knowledge Base information, creating additional routes, adjusting AI behavior, and enabling other Novus AI features available to your account.
